Srinagar, July 08 (KNO) : Authorities on Monday imposed strict restrictions in Srinagar parts as well as in Tral area to thwart any possible protests on the third anniversary of top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzafar Wani. The rest of the Valley also observed complete shutdown today ion the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), an umbrella of pro-freedom groups. Burhan and his aide were killed in a gunfight with government forces on July 08, 2016 in Bumdoora Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Also, Kashmir witnessed an uprising following the death of Burhan which claimed nearly 100 lives as well as left many people blinded and wounded. On the third anniversary of Burhan and his aide, the areas of Srinagar falling under the jurisdiction of Nowhatta, Rainawari, Khanyar, Safa Kadal and others remained under restrictions today. Restrictions were also imposed in Tral, the native hometown of Burhan Wani. A senior police official told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the decision to impose restrictions was taken to prevent any law and order situation. A large posse of police and other forces were deployed in the areas where restrictions were imposed. The restrictions continued till late evening, witnesses informed KNO. Besides, following the call given by JRL, the shops across the Valley remained shut, educational institutes, private offices and fuel stations remained closed. The traffic across the Valley was also thin on the roads today.   Meanwhile, the train services as per an official remained suspended for a day. He told KNO that the train services in the Valley was suspended today as security reasons. Moreover, the mobile internet speed was also reduced today while as users from southern districts complained of no internet access today.(KNO)
